Fashioning an elegant kitchen
Linda Cloutier of Linda Cloutier Kitchens & Baths, LLC in Greenland and Don Cook of D.D. Cook Builders, Inc. in Greenland designed a luxurious Seacoast kitchen with function, flow and architectural beauty in mind. Custom cherry-stained cabinetry, paneled appliances and spacious granite countertops make this space beautiful, accessible and durable.
With attention to both luxurious and utilitarian details, Linda Cloutier, designer and owner of Linda Cloutier Kitchens & Baths, LLC in Greenland, and Don Cook, contractor and president of D.D. Cook Builders, Inc. in Greenland, helped bring function, elegance and flow to a Seacoast kitchen and its surrounding rooms.
From floor to ceiling, a variety of architectural details—such as ornate molding, decorative corbels and finely detailed carvings of grapes on custom cherry-stained Wood Mode cabinets—enhance the kitchen’s sophisticated look. “The beauty of this kitchen exists in the finely detailed interior architecture, which compels one’s attention,” Cloutier says. “Every corner has a unique, breathtaking element.”
Custom built-in cabinetry with brushed-nickel hardware and a rounded island with radius cabinetry are not only rich in detail but also functional. The elegant kitchen easily transforms into an accessible and spacious cooking space at meal times with its ample granite countertops and numerous built-in storage features, including pullout spice racks by the stove and additional storage for cooking supplies by the wood-faced Thermador refrigerator and freezer.
Beyond its periphery, the kitchen’s refined design influences surrounding rooms. Harmoniously blending the house’s different living areas was crucial to the homeowners; flow and visual consistency was key. To create a feeling of expansiveness, an arched set of sliding French doors was installed to easily connect the formal dining room and kitchen. From either side of the arched portal, the beauty of each space, once separated by a wall, can be enjoyed. Nearby, an inviting library with similar finishes in cherry, lovely architectural details and neutral paint colors echo the look of the kitchen. Altogether, sophistication abounds in this kitchen and home.
