2020 Excellence in Design Awards

The NEW HAMPSHIRE HOME Design Awards is a program that honors and celebrates excellence in home design and the creative use of materials in new, remodeled and historic residences.

Although small geographically, New Hampshire is fertile ground for the architects, designers and builders working here.

The success and longevity of this magazine attests to that, and I will be always grateful for all the great stories homeowners have shared with our readers.

Whether you’ve designed or built a spectacular kitchen, a beautiful bath, a unique outdoor space or a fabulous home, we want to see your most impressive work. Projects were submitted in eleven design categories.

2020 Master of Ceremonies: Becky Rule

Rebecca Rule, who lives in Northwood, has been collecting and telling stories of New Hampshire and New England for more than twenty-five years. Her latest book is That Reminds Me of a Funny Story: a Memoir, How-to and Compendium of Yankee Humor.  Other books include N is for New Hampshire, an ABC book; The Iciest, Diciest, Scariest Sled Ride Ever!; Moved and Seconded: NH Town Meeting: Headin’ for the Rhubarb! A New Hampshire Dictionary (well, kinda); and Live Free and Eat Pie: A Storyteller’s Guide to New Hampshire. Her short story collection The Best Revenge was named “Outstanding Work of Fiction” by the NH Writers Project and listed as one of five “Essential NH Books” by New Hampshire Magazine.

For ten years Rule hosted the NH Authors Series for NHPBS. Currently, she hosts Our Hometown, also on NHPBS.

Rule’s passion for the spoken word takes her to schools, where she shares her work and helps young writers find their voices. She also frequently visits senior centers, senior communities and assisted living facilities where she tells and collects the stories of elders and, lately, has been teaching the craft of storytelling. She is a proud member of the New Hampshire Storytelling Alliance.
