Having lived on the lake for many years, the homeowner wanted a new home—along with a pool, spa and outdoor kitchen. A natural look and landscape elements were chosen: a stone circular drive with a cobblestone border, columns with plantings and lights, and a stone arch; a waterfall; a wood fire pit with a sitting area; decks and patio; a covered outdoor kitchen with granite counters and recessed lighting; natural stones for around the pool; and native plantings to enhance and accommodate shoreline regulations.
Judges said: “While this was a very ambitious project with a lot going on, it nonetheless seemed to accomplish all its intentions. This project takes full advantage of its proximity to the lake and is appropriate to the house it serves. The many different spaces are held together by the use of the regional stone. Paths and views framed by garden elements serve to further maintain the sense of ‘wholeness’ of vision. There was a good relationship of the spaces to one another. The design was well thought out and comprehensive.”
