Broiled Brown Sugar Pummelo
Broiled grapefruit was what was for dessert when I was growing up, and it is making a comeback. I like to experiment with the thicker-skinned pummelo for this recipe.
2 pummelos, cut in half and seeded
2 tablespoons light or dark brown sugar
2 tablespoons chopped walnuts
1. Preheat the broiler. Place the fruit halves on a lightly sprayed broiler pan. Divide and spread the sugar evenly on top of each fruit half.
2. Broil until the sugar begins to bubble, but not burn—about 3 minutes.
3. Carefully remove from the oven and place each fruit half on a dessert dish. Divide and sprinkle the nuts on top and serve.
